March 06, 2026

Bucharest will take centre stage in South‑East Europe’s strategic debate as senior policymakers, central bankers, financial institutions, and global business leaders convene for the Romania Government Roundtable, organised by Economist Impact Events in Southeast Europe, officially represented by Hazlis & Rivas Group.

At the end of March 2026, Romania’s capital will become a focal point for regional dialogue, hosting South‑East Europe’s most influential platform for engagement between the public and private sectors—at a time of far‑reaching economic and geopolitical change.

RCI Holding, as exclusive and strategic partner to Economist Impact Events in Southeast Europe for Romania and the Republic of Moldova, is reinforcing its role as a catalyst for cooperation between governments, institutions and the private sector.

“South‑East Europe is entering a decisive phase of strategic redefinition, and Romania has a genuine opportunity to emerge as a regional reference point for dialogue, stability and investment. Through the Romania Government Roundtable, RCI Holding helps shape a setting in which governments, central banks, financial institutions, and private capital can engage in substantive, solution‑driven dialogue and advance concrete projects for regional cooperation. Our partnership with The Economist also underlines our ambition to connect the region to the world’s most important global conversations and to promote a development agenda rooted in critical infrastructures security and resilience, addressing the challenges on energy prices, while we remain aligned to European standards, provide support for candidate countries and regional long‑term competitiveness,” said Dan Stratan, Founder and CEO of RCI Holding.

A high‑level forum for South‑East Europe’s next phase of growth

The 2026 edition of the Romania Government Roundtable will be held in Bucharest under the theme “South‑East Europe’s Next Leap Forward” and will bring together prominent decision‑makers from across the region and beyond.

Among the high-level participants at the opening of the conference are Mugur Isărescu, Governor of the National Bank of Romania, and Yannis Stournaras, Governor of the Bank of Greece. The participation of Professor Daron Acemoglu, Nobel Laureate in Economics, further underscores the strategic relevance of the forum and Romania’s growing credibility as a platform for advanced debates on institutions, democracy, technology, and the future of emerging economies.

On the same day of the conference, on 30 March, the EU rapporteur for the future of the single market and former Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta will take part in a dialogue with Alasdair Ross, editor for global business, economics, strategy, and risk at The Economist. The discussion will focus on strategic directions for strengthening the European single market, with an emphasis on financial integration, access to sustainable energy, and the acceleration of innovation, in the context of the need for reforms aimed at enhancing the competitiveness, resilience, and strategic autonomy of the European Union by 2028.

The proceedings of the second day of the conference, scheduled for 31 March at the Marriott Hotel, will be opened by the Prime Minister of Romania, Ilie Bolojan, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova, Alexandru Munteanu, and the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, during a session moderated by Joan Hoey, editor of the Democracy Index and Europe consultant for the Economist Intelligence Unit. Discussions will address the ways in which Europe can strengthen its security, stability, economic growth, and cohesion, including regional perspectives on the defence and security of the European Union, as well as developments in the Republic of Moldova and Albania in their EU accession processes.

Also on 31 March, the Vice-President of the European Commission, Roxana Mînzatu, will deliver an address dedicated to the European Union’s consolidation instruments in the face of major challenges such as geopolitical instability, energy security, economic pressures, migration, and political polarisation.

In addition, leading investors, regional private sector groups and senior business figures will contribute to focused discussions on financial and healthcare policy, energy, defense, economic security, strategic investment, digital transformation and artificial intelligence.
